The Gurdjieff Foundation of Texas

In the Gurdjieff schools, the development of a new kind of attention is encouraged.  Activities designed to support this effort include mediation, sacred movements, crafts, music and group discussion. These outer activities serve to assist an inner process of self study and development under the guidance of experienced teachers.

In Texas, meetings and activities began in 1970 in San Antonio and Houston.  Today there are also Gurdjieff groups in Austin and Dallas.  Regular contact with the New York Gurdjieff Foundation began in 1984.  The Gurdjieff Foundation of Texas is a non-profit organization, funded through contributions from members and friends, as well as donations and grants.

The Houston group holds regular weekly activities from September through May in addition to a summer reading program.  Periodically, the Foundation sponsors retreats as well as public events.
